Centenary Meeting

Godefroi De Bouillon Loge Nº 6

Grand Loge National Francais

The Centenary meeting of the Godefroi De Bouillon Loge Nº 6 (our mother loge) was held on Saturday the 1st April 2017 in the Hotel du Parc in Hardelot, Pas De Calais. In the Master’s Chair for this very special occasion was our very own RW Bob Self PGDC, Past Dep PGM in the Province of Flanders supported by other members of Le Touquet Loge Nº 89, including VW Bro Ken Cownden, VW Bro Guy Hammerton, W Bro John Murray and W Bro Bob Smith, who are also Masons in England.

The event was very well supported with approaching 150 Brethren present and in special recognition of the centenary, was graced by the Grand Master of GLNF, TRF Jean-Pierre Serval, along with numerous other members of the Grand Loge Executive and the current Provincial Grand Master TRF Gilbert Geeraert accompanied by 3 Past Provincial Grand Masters of Flanders.

During the meeting a short history of the Loge was given, followed by a  presentation by the Grand Master, both recitals being given in French and English to accommodate the many brethren present from both sides of the Channel.

The Grand Master gave special thanks to the English Brethren who had continued their support for GLNF during the recent problems, which were now all, as he assured, firmly behind us.

In support of Bob, members of St. Laurence Lodge Nº 5511 from Upminster in England were present, along with the WM of Le Touquet Loge Nº 89 and three members of Walthamstow Lodge Nº 2472 who had also travelled from Yorkshire in England to be at the event.

It was indeed a great honour for all to meet and be greeted by the Grand Master and share his and the other executive members company at the meeting, the bar and special dinner. This wonderful evening extended until the hour of 3.30 am on the Sunday and included the serving of specially labelled Godefroi De Bouillon Champagne for all!
